The Unified Query Builder now supports rolling input windows

Improved

The Unified Query Builder has been improved to allow you to add a rolling input time window to your metric and span queries in dashboards, notebooks, and metric alerts. The rolling input window determines the data points to be used when computing data aggregation. Aggregate and set input window

Additionally, you can now add a final input time window to queries. Once you’ve filtered and grouped your data, or added a formula, you may find it necessary to include a final time aggregation. The final aggregation takes all the values into account over the specified time period, and further smoothes the data. It also helps with noisy alerts!

Final time input window

Other small improvements have been made to the builder:

  • For span queries, the Compute field has been renamed to Aggregate (where you can set the new rolling time window) and moved above the Group option. For latency queries, you now set the percentiles below the group by field.
  • For metric queries, the Represent as field has been renamed to Aggregate (where you can set the new rolling time window).
  • For metric alerts, you now configure the evaluation window as part of the query, using the new rolling time window and if needed, the final time aggregation
