To simplify and make billing more flexible, Cloud Observability now offers a Subscription unit billing plan. Under the new plan, you purchase a monthly number of subscription units. You then apply those subscription units to Cloud Observability telemetry, including metrics and traces.
The Subscription unit plan applies to users with contracts starting on or after May 4, 2023. All other users remain on the Active service bundle plan.
For consistency and clarity, we’ve also renamed several pages in Cloud Observability’s Billing and usage section. Span data ingest is now Trace usage, and Active time series is now Metric usage. There are no other feature changes on those pages.
